Q. What training do your staff have?

A. All staff are carefully selected by  Sharon Huxtable & Claire Bellas. They have a 12 week initial induction period, during which they have to complete mandatory training. We are also introducing continuing professional development, CPD, which maintains or extends knowledge, skills, understanding & performance. We have a dedicated training co-ordinator, Michelle Mayhew, who is based at Martham Lodge. Where we also have a training computer for staff to access at anytime to facilitate online training, a large training room equiped with a laptop, projector & screen for in house training.

Q. Are the meals served at set times? Can I have breakfast in bed on a Sunday?

A. Of course you can have breakfast in bed! Meals are available at any time, but for an idea times, please see below. All diets can be catered for vegetarian, diabetic, low calorie etc.

Due to the size of the home we are able to get to know our Client’s likes and dislikes, so we can offer alternatives when required.

7.30am Cup of tea & biscuits in bed.
8.30am Breakfast in bed (if requested)
9.00am Breakfast (in the dining room): cereals, porridge, toast. Full ‘Cooked on Sunday.
10.30am Morning coffee.
1.OOpm Lunch: Home cooking: roasts, fish & chips, stews.
3.30pm Afternoon tea & cakes.
6.00pm High tea – soup & rolls – Smoked fish – Sandwiches. Always a choice available.
8.00pm+ Milky drink. Ovaltine, chocolate etc.

Q. I like having my hair done reqularly is their a local hairdresser?

A. A local hairdresser visits weekly, costing around £10.00 for a shampoo and set or there is a salon in Acle.

Q. I am an avid reader is there a local library and can I get a daily paper?

A. We have a selection of large print books, and the mobile library visits the village once amonth.. There is a ‘house daily paper’, if you would like your own daily paper or periodical these can be delivered and will be charged for separately.

Q. How is laundry dealt with?

A. We do all the laundry here, but we do ask relatives to mark clothes with names (initials) prior to arrival, and on any articles brought in subsequently. It would also be appreciated if family launders any clothes that cannot go in a tumble drier.

Q Is it possible to have my own pictures on the wall in my room?

A. We encourage residents to bring in articles of furniture and things from home. Pictures for the wall, counterpanes for their beds etc.

Q. I couldn’t bear to leave my pet cat behind could she come too?

A. We have at the moment 1 Client’s dog, Maisey, and 2 chickens (fresh eggs for breakfast). If you would like to come in with your cat, we will endeavour to accommodate it if at all possible.
