The new vegetable plot! - 24 May 2010

Tagged as: The Garden

I have just got back from a weeks holiday (in not very sunny Corfu), & was amazed to see how much work had been done in the garden. Geoff & Ralph having been working very hard to make the home self sufficient in the vegetable department!

Runner beans have been set, four rows of potatoes and Ralph is talking about other root vegetables to go in. We will now have to get a shed for Geoff to ‘potter’ in!

Final Days!! - 17 Feb 2010

Monday was mixed with emotions, saying goodbye to the builders who have been with us now for nearly two years. Their site huts were moved last week giving us back our drive!

We have been working hard Eric, Nigel & Rebecca have worked the last two weekends, moving furniture, painting & organising!

We had the registration inspector from CQC out yesterday & hopefully we will be soon registered for 34 clients.

The Final Week of the building work - 06 Feb 2010

Tagged as: Building Work

Hopefully, the builders should be finished on Friday 12th Feb. Exactly one year & a week since we moved into the extension at the back. Everything is coming together, carpets going down, door furniture all being fixed. We have replaced the balustrades at the front of the house, with a black wrought iron one. Dad replaced some of the original uprights on the old balustrade with ones that he made, unfortunately they were very rotten. I think he will approve of the new design.

We had to alter where we came into the house as well, the temporary corridor has now been knocked down & we are able to use a side entrance on the other-side of the building. This will only be till we can use front door.

New entrance lobby.

The Chickens - 26 Oct 2009

Tagged as: The Hen's

We have got four new additions to our growing family!

Four chickens arrived last week, thanks to Elaine, they are rescued chickens from a battery run farm. They are a little threadbare at the moment, but I have been reliably informed that with the correct food & a bit of love they will soon be feathered & beautiful! Ralph made their new house & all the staff are feeding & watering them. They are laying eggs & everyone has had boiled eggs for breakfast!

Elizabeth named them ( we are taking no responsibility for this!)
